Ayano has always found photography a fascinating tool
and in her practice she explores its certainty,
its realistic quality as a record as well as its fluidity.

Artist Statement (EN)
By taking a photograph of the real world with a camera,
it allows me to see the world surrounding us with a different viewpoint,
allowing for creative freedom in reality.
I try a variety of approaches to free the light captured and
shut by a photograph and change to the light flowing continuously
through the photograph and people who see it.
This is a process of energy transformation from
photographically-recorded light image to a self-luminous light
by visualizing a relationship between atmospheric air and a person,
the relationship continues all the while since antiquity.
I was inspired by memories of calligraphy and music, in which I have
over 10 years experience, the image by which ink is melting in water and
the sound of musical instruments flow through me like a scudding cloud,
acting in concert with others.
The art becomes personal tools for me, sharing and connecting with others
in a very personal level in everyday lives.
I hope to share the same quality of essence with others.

現実世界をカメラで写真に撮ることで
自分を取り巻いている世界を新しい視点で見ることができ、
それにより現実の中で創造的自由を得ることができました。
写真によって閉じ込めた光を解放し、その光が写真やそれを見る人々を通して
常に流れ続ける光へと変化することを目指し、私は様々な方法を試みています。
これは、古代からずっと続く関係性である、人と、それを取り巻く大気の関係性、
いつも確かにそこにある目に見えないエネルギーフィールドを視覚化することによる、
「写真に記録された光の像」から「自ら光を放つ発光体」への
エネルギー変換のプロセスだと考えています。
作品制作にあたり、どちらも10年以上経験のある、習字と音楽に影響を受けました。
習字と音楽に関する記憶の中で、墨汁の墨が水に溶けていくイメージや、
楽器の音色が他者と呼応しながら自身の身体をゆるやかに、
まるで流れる雲のように自由に流れていく様子にインスピレーションを受けました。
アートは、日常のとても個人的なレベルで
他者と物事をシェアしたりつながることのできる個人的なツールになりつつあります。
私は物事の本質を同じように他の人々と共有することができたら、と願っています。

Ayano Sakanashiは、1984年に日本人の両親の元に生まれ、
絵画を愛し趣味で制作を続ける父と、音楽・ピアノ教師の母に影響を受けて育った。
彼女の人生は日本の神奈川県で始まったが、彼女はずっと海外生活に憧れを持っており、
17歳でオーストリアのウィーンへ短期ホームステイを経験。そのホームステイ先で、
世界を舞台に今も活動するドイツ人アーティストのホストマザーに大きな影響を受けた。
18歳で高校を卒業してからオーストラリア、南オーストラリア州アデレードへ留学し、
その後タイをはじめ東南アジア諸国を旅しながら、様々な文化圏の人々と交流を持った。
25歳で日本に帰国し、いくつかの会社で海外と関わる仕事をする傍ら、
自由な時間がある時には演奏会や絵画、芸術作品展示へ足を運んだ。
自らの表現への強い思いに突き動かされ、主として写真制作に取り組むようになり、
2014年、30歳の時 意を決して写真学校で写真を学び始める。
その頃、現代美術作家である杉本博司氏の写真表現に衝撃を受け、その思想やコンセプトに
大きな影響を受けた。幼少の頃から生活の一部だった音楽からもインスピレーションを受け、
彼女にとって身近で、日常生活に普及していたデジタルカメラを用い写真制作を続ける中、
2015年ロンドンでのグループ展に参加。その後、その地域でいくつかのグループ展を行った。
それはアートによって精神を解放し、全ての人の中にある光に焦点を当てるという
アーティストとしての喜びを肌で感じる素晴らしい経験となった。
今後も、彼女の表現への探求は続く。
